It offers 276 acres of field, floodplain, and woodland and is home to over 200 species of wildlife The excellent trail system within the sanctuary is the perfect spot to enjoy a hike. Families have the opportunity to become members at two local clubs. The Somerset Hills Country Club (180 Mine Mount Road) features a golf course designed by A.W. Tillinghast and has been named one of the top 100 courses in the United States. Roxiticus Golf Club (179 Bliss Road) in neighboring Mendham offers an 18 hole golf course, tennis courts, and an olympic sized swimming pool.

Students in Bernardsville are educated through the Somerset Hills School District. This excellent public school district is dedicated to academic excellence and providing a variety of extracurricular activities for their students. There are 3 schools within the district. Pre-kindergarten through 4th grade students attend Bedwell Elementary School (141 Seney Drive). Bernardsville Middle School (141 Seney Drive) educates students in grades 5th through 8th and Bernards High School (25 Olcott Avenue) is for students in 9th through 12th grades.

The location of Bernardsville makes it easy for residents to travel throughout New Jersey and the larger region. US Route 202 runs directly through town and serves as the community’s main street. This route connects Bernardsville to other communities located throughout Somerset County. Bernardsville is just west of Interstate 287, which is major thoroughfare within the region’s extensive highway system. For residents that do not want to commute by car, NJ Transit’s Gladstone Branch runs through Bernardsville Station (Mine Brook Road) and provides service to and from Hoboken. Newark Liberty International Airport (3 Brewster Road, Newark) is located 30 miles away for residents needing to travel beyond New England.
