Celebrate Earth Day in Somerset and Morris Counties!

Somerset and Morris Counties are filled with stunning natural spaces that add beauty to our community. Residents love to use these areas for recreational purposes, to relax, or simply enjoy nature. It is important that we protect and preserve our local environment so that we all can enjoy it now and in the years to come. Earth Day is an annual event meant to remind us of the importance of our planet and encourage us to do our part to conserve. Help keep Somerset and Morris Counties beautiful by checking out one of these awesome community events being held this Saturday, April 22nd!

Raritan Headwaters Annual Stream Cleanup

Date: Saturday, April 22nd

Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Cost: FREE!

Help protect our waterways by participating in this annual cleanup. Bring gloves and a bag to collect any trash that you find in the watersheds. Register HERE to participate.  

Spring Plant Sale and Earth Day Celebration

Dates: Saturday, April 22nd & Sunday, April 23rd

Times: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm (Saturday) & 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm (Sunday)

Location: Leonard J. Buck Garden (111 Layton Road, Far Hills)

Cost: FREE admission!

Help your home garden look its very best this year by stocking up on plants at this annual sale by the Somerset County Park Commission. There will be a wide variety of plants, including herbs, perennials, wildflowers, and more. In addition, enjoy informational lectures on both days at 1:00 pm by local environmental experts. Take a guided tour of the garden on Saturday or Sunday at 2:00 pm.

Warren Watchung Green Fair

Date: Saturday, April 22nd

Time: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Location: Warren Municipal Grounds (46 Mountain Boulevard, Warren)

Cost: FREE admission!

Enjoy fun eco-friendly projects, pick up seedlings and vegetables, learn more about conservation efforts in our area, and so much more. There is also a recycling drive at the fair for you to safely dispose of your unwanted goods.

Somerset County 4-H Association Spring Carnival

Date: Saturday, April 22nd

Time: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Location: Ted Blum 4-H Center (310 Milltown Road, Bridgewater)

Cost: $12 per child

Help support the Somerset County 4-H Youth Development Program at this fun carnival. Enjoy a day filled with games and activities, food, face painting, a petting zoo, magic shows, and so much more.

Best New Jersey Towns for Families!

Towns located throughout Somerset, Morris, and Hunterdon County are perfect for Home Buyers with families! They offer top ranked schools, excellent recreational facilities, dining, retail, and entertainment amenities, strong local economies, diverse housing options, and so much more! New Jersey Family recently released their annual report of the best towns in the state for families. According to their NJ's Best Towns for Families 2017 rankings, some of the top 100 towns are located in our area!

To create their rankings, New Jersey Family looked at over 500 New Jersey towns with a population over 1,500 people. A variety of factors were included to determine which towns were the best for families. These factors included median household income, average home sale price, public school performance data, crime rates, commute time, access to amenities, and other relevant factors.

Great Easter Events for the Whole Family!

It is almost Easter! The Communities in Somerset County and Morris County have many family friendly events planned to celebrate the holiday. Throughout our area, you can get in the spirit. Check out these great events to celebrate Easter!

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Date: Saturday, April 1st

Time: 10:00 am

Location: Lidgerwood Park (46 Lidgerwood Parkway, Morristown)

Cost: FREE!

Try to fill your basket with as many eggs as you can. The Easter Bunny will make a special visit. In addition, there will be candy, balloon animals, and face painting.

Annual Egg Hunt

Date: Saturday, April 8th

Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Location: Matthew G. Kantor Memorial Park (915 Valley Road, Gillette)

Cost: FREE!

Be sure to bring your basket for this fun egg hunt. There will be prizes. Spend time with the Easter Bunny. Don't miss the petting zoo and pony rides.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Date: Saturday, April 8th

Times: 11:00 am

Location: Frelinghuysen Park (Sherman Avenue, Raritan)

Cost: FREE!

There is much fun to be had at this annual event. Have your photo taken with the Easter Bunny. Win some great Easter prizes in the raffle. Find all the eggs that you can for delicious candy. There are 3 hunt times based on age groups. Children 9-12 can participate at 11:00 am, ages 1-4 at 11:20 am, and children ages 5-8 starts at 11:45 am.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

Date: Sunday, April 9th

Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Location: Bernards Inn (27 Mine Brook Road, Bernardsville)

Cost: $35 per adult | $20 per child (ages 2 to 12) | FREE for children under 2

Easter Egg Workshop

Date: Tuesday, April 11th

Times: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm or 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Cost: $10 per person (sign up fee) | $20 per egg (charged after workshop)

Spark your creativity during these workshops for pre-school and elementary school children. Help your child create 3 fused glass Easter Eggs. You can add strings and beads to the eggs in order to display them for the holiday. Register HERE.

Easter Buffet Brunch

NJ Makers Day Events Occurring this Saturday!

New Jersey has always been known as a state of great technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and immense talent. This tradition is celebrated during the 3rd annual  New Jersey Makers Day. This Saturday, March 25th, there will be displays, demonstrations, and hands on activities in communities throughout the state. These programs are meant to celebrate maker culture in New Jersey. Local community organizations have come up with their own programming to help promote active learning and an innovative spirit amongst residents. Spend time with your family this Saturday doing something educational and fun! There are many places throughout Somerset and Morris Counties that are participating in the day.


Bernards Township Library (32 South Maple Avenue, Basking Ridge)

10:30 am - 12:00 pm - Makers Day Drop In Craft - Participants of all ages will create and test their own handheld catapult.

10:30 am - 2:30 pm - Makers Showcase - See exhibits featuring vintage and new gadgets and technology and visit with local makers.

1:00 pm - 2:30 pm  - Teen Augmented Reality - Create your very own augmented reality experience!

Bridgewater Township Library Branch (1 Vogt Drive, Bridgewater)

10:00 am - 12:00 pm - 4-H Robotics Club Demonstration - All ages will learn more about Lego Mindstorms EV3 robots and programs from this demonstration by the 4-H Robotics Club.

10:00 am - 12:00 pm - Create an Altered Book - Use your creativity and the materials provided to understand and make your own altered book.

Hillsborough Library Branch (379 South Branch Road, Hillsborough)

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm - Makers Day Fair - You will have the opportunity to partake in a variety of hands on activities, including a DIY phone speaker stand, a community loom, optical illusion art, snap circuits, and more. Also, do not miss the numerous informative demonstrations that range in topics from cooking to computer programming.

Peapack & Gladstone Library Branch  (1 School Street, Peapack)

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm - Make Your Own LED Pop-Up Card - Create the perfect holiday or special occasion card with a twist. The card you make will pop-up and have LEDs! Have the opportunity to get creative while learning more about circuits. This activity applies the elements of STEAM. Prior registration is required and can be done online HERE.

Warren Township Library Branch (42 Mountain Boulevard, Warren)

11:00 am - 2:00 pm - Family Makers Fair Fun - Prove you have what it takes in the gingerbeard house challenge and marshmallow tower challenges. Have the opportunity to work on basket weaving, jewelry making, origami, and tissue paper flowers. Watch demonstrations about 3D Printers and Arduino & Raspberry Pi.

The Children's Museum of Somerset County  (120 Finderne Avenue, Bridgewater)

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at these Great Local Irish Pubs!

St. Patrick’s Day is almost here! You can celebrate all week throughout Somerset and Morris Counties by picking up some delicious Irish grub and beverages at the excellent, local Irish pubs! As you dine on your corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, or any other fare that suits your fancy, enjoy live entertainment to celebrate the holiday! Here are our recommendations for great Irish Pubs to spend this St. Patrick’s Day!

Best School Districts Found in Our Area!

The school districts in our New Jersey counties are truly some of the best! Education ranking and review website Niche recently released their list of the top K-12 school districts in New Jersey for 2017. The site reviewed 245 public school districts within the state based on data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as millions of reviews from Niche users. These 4 districts made it to the top 25 of their class!

#4 School District of the Chathams | 58 Meyersville Road, Chatham

This district was also ranked in the top 20 for District with the Best Teachers, Safest School District, and Best Places to Teach!

Somerset and Morris Named Top Counties in America!

Some of the best counties in the United States are found in the great state of New Jersey! Financial news website 24/7 Wall St. released their list of the 25 best counties to live in the country..............Somerset County and Morris County made the list!!


To find the best counties in the country, 24/7 Wall St. ranked the counties based on well-being and three socioeconomic measures, including the percentage of adults with at least a bachelor's degree, life expectancy at birth, and the poverty rate. All 25 counties on this list have low unemployment rates, high annual median household incomes, a large percentage of the population in high paying industries, and a high percentage of the population covered by health insurance,

resulting in their high national rankings. When the results came in, Someset County was named the 17th best county and Morris County the 18th!


#17 Somerset County, NJ

Despite a relatively sizable population growth of 3.5% over the past five years, Somerset County has continued to meet the socioeconomic needs of its residents. This county has an exceedingly well educated population, with 52.5% of adults with at least a bachelor’s degree. Somerset County is the 10th highest county in the country in terms of annual income. The median household income is $100,887. The county has a low poverty rate. Well below the national average, the unemployment rate for Somerset County is 3.3%. With access to quality healthcare and a dedication to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the life expectancy in this county is 82.4 years.


#17 Morris County, NJ

This county is one of great economic prosperity. Morris County has an unemployment rate of 3.2%, which is well below the national average. Over half of all households have an annual income of at least $100,000, making it one of only 11 counties in the entire country with a median annual household income in the six-figures. Residents live long, healthy lives with a life expectancy of 82.3 years. The close proximity to large job markets such as New York City, allow for ample job opportunities within a reasonable commuting distance.
