Parks and Recreation in Branchburg


It is easy for Branchburg residents to stay active all year round thanks to the many excellent facilities located in the township. The Branchburg Recreation Department offers many programs throughout the year and maintains 5 Parks, which cover over 150 acres of combined space in the community. Each of these parks have a playground, green space, and other amenities for residents to enjoy. The largest of these parks is White Oak Park (235 Baird Road). This great facility offers baseball/softball fields, basketball court, batting cages, jogging/walking trails, nature trails, playgrounds, sand volleyball courts, soccer/lacrosse fields, and more! For residents that like to hit the green, the Fox Hollow Golf Club (59 Fox Chase Run) is a par-70, 18 hole golf course in Branchburg. Throughout the year, residents can use the Branchburg Sports Complex (47 Readington Road). This premier entertainment facility is 78,000 square feet large and offers incredible indoor recreational activities, including sports on its indoor turf fields.  

Education in Branchburg, NJ

Branchburg Township School District educates students within the community who are in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. There are three schools within the district. Students in pre-kindergarten through 3rd attend Whiton Elementary School (470 Whiton Road). Stony Brook School (136 Cedar Grove Road) serves students in 4th and 5th, while Central Middle School (220 Baird Road) educates those in 6th through 8th. After 8th grade, the students in Branchburg Township attend nearby Somerville High School (222 Davenport Street, Somerville) through a sending/receiving agreement between Branchburg Township and Somerville Public School Districts.

Health and Transportation in Branchburg, NJ

While there are no major hospitals located directly within the township, Branchburg residents do not need to travel far to reach world class medical facilities. Both Hunterdon Medical Center (2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington) and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset (110 Rehill Avenue, Somerville) are located nearby and offer top ranked, comprehensive medical care and emergency services. There are also many family practice and urgent care facilities throughout Somerset County.

Travelling from Branchburg to the surrounding area is a breeze due to the extensive transportation amenities. Both US Routes 22 and 202 run through the township and connect it to the other communities in Somerset County and beyond. Branchburg is conveniently situated just southwest of Interstates 78 and 287, which are two of the major driving routes in New England. The North Branch (Mine Brook Road) station operates NJ Transit’s Raritan Valley Line and provides easy commutes to Newark and the towns in between. Newark Liberty International Airport (3 Brewster Road, Newark) is less than 45 minutes away for any Branchburg residents needing to travel further distances for business or pleasure.
