There are many unique boutiques, restaurants, and other essential amenities within walking distance of all of the neighborhoods in town. Parks and Recreation in Jersey Shore

 

Recreational activities are endless at the Jersey Shore. With its location on the shore, it is easy to spend ample time on the water. Residents enjoy surfing, swimming, boating, fishing, and more on the waterways in the area. In addition, there are beautiful natural landscapes for people to be outdoors. The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation operates 20 Parks, 4 conservation areas, and golf courses which cumulatively cover over 4,000 acres of land. There are many excellent parks located throughout the area. Beaver Dam Creek County Park (3430 Bridge Avenue, Point Pleasant) has tidal wetlands, playgrounds, tennis courts, a basketball court, softball fields, and multipurpose athletic fields within its 40 acres. Cactus Island County Park (1170 Cattus Island Boulevard, Toms River) covers over 530 acres. There are 7 miles of trails to enjoy walking and biking near Barnegat Bay. In the winter, residents can enjoy cross country skiing. This park is also home to the Cooper Environmental Center where visitors can learn more about native plants and wildlife. Health and Transportation in Jersey Shore

There are many excellent health care facilities for residents in Ocean County to utilize when needed. Several of these facilities are recognized for providing excellent medical care for their patients. RWJBarnabas Health’s Community Medical Center (99 Highway 37 West, Toms River) and Ocean Medical Center (425 Jack Martin Boulevard, Brick) are comprehensive hospitals that provide emergency services as well as long term and surgical medical care. The Children's Specialized Hospital operates 2 locations in Toms River (368 Lakehurst Road and 94 Stevens Road) for long term and outpatient pediatric care. The Ocean Care Center (1517 Richmond Avenue, Point Pleasant) provides urgent care for minor emergencies. For families looking for a general medical practice, Meridian Primary Care (1028 Hooper Avenue, Toms River) provides primary care.


Residents in Jersey Shore have access to an excellent transportation network throughout the region. US Route 9 runs north and south along the coast, providing easy commuting for shore residents. It connects New Jersey to Delaware and New York. Interstate 195, located on the northern edge of Ocean County, runs to the west, connecting the shore to Trenton and the other major interstates further inland. NJ Transit runs several routes in the area for the convenience of residents. The Shore Express provides express rail service to and from Penn Station in New York City to  multiple stations in Jersey Shore, including Bay Head and Point Pleasant Beach. There are several airports located near Ocean County for residents looking to travel outside of the immediate area. Trenton-Mercer Airport (1100 Terminal Circle Drive, Ewing Township) offers domestic commercial flights to certain destinations and is located approximately 45 minutes away. Atlantic City International Airport (101 Atlantic City Int'l Airport #106, Egg Harbor Township) is 50 minutes away and offers domestic and international flights.
