Although there are many American suburbs where walking to local amenities is almost impossible, there are cities throughout New Jersey where walking is just a natural part of your day. These towns are set up with all the amenities and facilities you could ever need within a short distance of your home. With schools, stores, restaurants, entertainment venues, parks and more located near residential neighborhoods, these New Jersey towns make walking or biking around town a breeze. Consider moving to one of these fantastic communities and save gas on your car and live a happy, healthier life!



Basking Ridge

The Basking Ridge area within Bernards Township is the perfect spot for those that like to walk. It has a Walk Score of 53. The downtown area around South Finley Avenue and South Maple Avenue is home to many amenities that can be easily accessible by foot. There are numerous restaurants and coffee shops. In addition, there are services, banks, pharmacies, and other retail spots that make completing chores a breeze. It is easy for students to walk to local schools, such as Ridge High School and Oak Street Elementary School. Bernardsville

Although many of the areas of Bernardsville are residential, as you move closer to lovely downtown, the town becomes incredibly walkable. Located in the area surrounding Mine Brook Road, Bernardsville has a Walk Score of 81. Downtown Bernardsville has several unique shops and galleries.
